Spurs agree £25m deal for Brighton’s Yves Bissouma

Tottenham have agreed a £25m deal to sign Yves Bissouma from Brighton as Antonio Conte continues his rebuild of the side.

Spurs were interested in a January deal to sign the midfielder and have now revived their interest, with the two clubs having come to an agreement on a fee for the Mali international.

Bissouma is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Brighton and has attracted interest from several Premier League rivals, with Aston Villa having made a failed approach to sign the 25-year-old during the January window.

The Times are reporting that Arsenal and Liverpool have also considered approaches for Bissouma, who has won admirers for his defensive tenacity and box-to-box influence since signing for the Seagulls from Lille in 2018.

He has made 112 league appearances across his four seasons with Brighton, scoring three goals. However, the midfielder is currently awaiting the outcome of a police investigation after he was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault in October.

Bissouma will become Spurs’ third signing of the summer transfer window should a deal be completed, following the free transfer captures of Fraser Forster and Ivan Perisic. Conte is keen to add up to six or seven new signings to his squad and a host of fringe players could leave to raise further funds.

The North Londoners are also hopeful of signing a full-back and have opened talks over a deal for Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence, whilst Everton’s Richarlison is also believed to be a transfer target as the club seek the addition of a versatile forward.

Spurs also want reinforcements at centre-back and have been linked with Alessando Bastoni, Pau Torres and Gleison Bremer.
