Three clubs in talks as Liverpool set their asking price for Minamino

Liverpool have set their asking price for Takumi Minamino with three clubs having opened talks over a deal for the Japan forward.

Minamino will be allowed to leave Liverpool this summer after struggling for regular first-team football last season, making just one Premier League start during the 2021/22 campaign.

The impending arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica will further reduce his opportunities and several sides have expressed an interest in signing the versatile forward.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that three clubs have opened talks with Liverpool over a potential deal, with the Reds having set an asking price of €17m (£14.6m) for the former Red Bull Salzburg star.

Minamino has struggled to command regular football since his arrival from the Austrian side in January 2020, but impressed during his limited opportunities last season to score ten goals from nine starts across all competitions as Liverpool won a domestic cup double.

The interested sides have not been named, though the BBC last week claimed that Wolves, Leeds, Fulham, Southampton and Monaco are all among the interested parties.

Minamino spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Southampton, scoring twice in ten Premier League appearances for the Saints. He also worked under Leeds manager Jesse Marsch during his successful spell at Salzburg.
