Nathan Ake has emerged as a transfer target for Chelsea as the club consider defensive options this summer.
Chelsea are seeking reinforcements at centre-back following the departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger and are considering an approach to sign former defender Ake.
Ake signed for the Chelsea as a teenager before coming through the ranks, making 17 senior appearances for the west Londoners before joining Bournemouth in a £21m deal in 2017.
Chelsea inserted a buy-back option into that deal, but failed to activate the clause before Ake’s £40m move to Manchester City in 2020.
The Dutch international has made just 24 league appearances across two seasons at the Etihad and the Telegraph are reporting that City could be open to his sale this summer, with Chelsea preparing to open discussions as the Blues also look to sign Raheem Sterling from the Premier League champions.
Thomas Tuchel is a long-term admirer of Ake and 27-year-old is viewed as a natural left-footed replacement for Rudiger in the Blues’ back three, whilst his ability to deputise at left-back and midfield is also attractive to Chelsea.
