Manchester City have turned down loan bids from Premier League clubs for Julian Alvarez, with the forward set to play a part in the club’s plans this season.
City secured a deal for Alvarez during the January transfer window, before allowing the forward to remain on loan with River Plate for the remainder of the campaign.
The 22-year-old has continued to enhance his reputation as one of South America’s most promising young talents in 2022, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in just 22 appearances for the Argentine side.
He will reportedly stay with River Plate until the end of their Copa Libertadores last 16 second leg on July 6, before joining up with City for pre-season.
The arrival of Erling Haaland at the Etihad has seen several sides express an interest in taking Alvarez on loan, though Fabrizio Romano has revealed that City have turned down interest from clubs across Europe, including several Premier League sides.
More than five European clubs have approached Man City since February to sign Julián Álvarez on loan for the next season, including Premier League clubs too. 🕷 #MCFC
Always same answer: no way, he's staying. That's why Man City are prepared to sell Gabriel Jesus and Sterling. pic.twitter.com/cKghy1oTx8

City want Alvarez to feature in their plans next season and will allow both Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling to leave in order to accommodate the Argentina international.
Arsenal and Tottenham are competing for the signing of Jesus, whilst Chelsea are interested in a deal to sign Sterling. Both players are entering the final 12 months of their deals at the Etihad this summer, though City are keen to recoup around £110m for the duo.
