Manchester City are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella.
City are in ‘advanced talks’ with the Seagulls over the signing of the Spaniard, who has emerged as Pep Guardiola’s top target to strengthen the club’s full-back options this summer.
Personal terms have been agreed with Cucurella, who was named as Brighton’s Player of the Season after an impressive debut campaign at the Amex Stadium.
Football Insider are reporting that Cucurella has informed Brighton of his desire to leave the club and sign for the Premier League champions, just one year after joining the Seagulls from Getafe.
Graham Potter’s side are set to make a significant profit on their £15.4m investment in Cucurella, who is viewed as an ideal fit for City. The club had been keen to sign a natural left-footer to provide competition at left-back.
Brighton had been reluctant to allow Cucurella to leave having already sanctioned the sale of Yves Bissouma to Tottenham, but interest from City has seen the defender express a desire to leave and an agreement is expected to be reached.
City also remain keen on a deal to sign Kalvin Phillips from Leeds as the club seek a defensive midfield replacement for Fernandinho.
