Chelsea set to enter race for Ajax winger Antony

Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Ajax winger Antony.

Thomas Tuchel’s side are among a long list of admirers for the Brazilian, who has been linked with following Erik ten Hag to Manchester United in recent weeks.

Chelsea are looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign and are understood to be interested in Ousmane Dembele and Raheem Sterling, though football365 are reporting that the west Londoners have now made an approach for Antony.

The Blues have held talks with the 22-year-old’s representatives over a potential switch, whilst Chelsea boast the added attraction of Champions League football when it comes to persuading Antony to England.

Antony has shone since signing for Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020, with the winger breaking into the Brazil squad following his performances in Dutch football.

He scored 12 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions last season as Ajax retained the Eredivisie title.

He has earned nine caps for Brazil since making his international debut in October 2021, scoring twice, and will hope to earn a starting place in the side ahead of the Qatar World Cup.

Chelsea have also been linked with signing international teammate Raphinha from Leeds, with reports suggesting Tuchel views the 25-year-old as an option at wing-back.
