Man United linked with move for Feyenoord’s Tyrell Malacia

Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign Feyenoord’s Tyrell Malacia, though face competition for the in-demand defender

Erik ten Hag is interested in bringing his compatriot to the Premier League as he looks to improve his full-back options ahead of next season, with the 22-year-old having impressed in the Eredivisie last season.

Malacia made 50 appearances across all competitions and was named in the Europa Conference League’s Team of the Season after helping the Dutch side to the final of the tournament’s inaugural season.

He made his debut for the Netherlands in September and has since won five caps at international level, with the left-back hoping to feature in Louis van Gaal’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

According to the Metro, Ten Hag is keen to bring in Malacia as competition for Luke Shaw, whose performances dipped last season after impressing for England at Euro 2020 last summer.

United face competition for the Dutchman’s signature however, and Lyon are understood to have made a bid of £12m to sign the defender.

Newcastle have also been linked despite securing a permanent deal for Matt Targett earlier in the window, with Feyenoord said to value the academy product at around £15m.
