Manchester United’s move for Malacia ‘complicated’

Manchester United’s move for Tyrell Malacia has been ‘complicated’ over an issue with the representation of the Feyenoord defender.

United have agreed a deal to sign the left-back for a fee of €15m plus add-ons, with personal terms needing to be finalised before the Netherlands international can complete his move to Old Trafford.

However, The Athletic are reporting that the deal has been complicated by problems regarding the player’s representative, who ‘has not been authorised’ to conduct the deal.

Malacia has chosen his father as representation ahead of the transfer, opting against agent Ali Dursun, who also represents fellow transfer target Frenkie de Jong.

The issue is set to delay the Red Devils’ signing of Malacia, who could become the first addition of Erik ten Hag’s reign at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old has impressed since coming through the academy ranks at Feyenoord and formed part of the team that reached the Europa Conference League final last season, earning including in the Team of the Tournament.

He has earned five caps for the Netherlands since his debut in 2021 and will challenge Luke Shaw and Alex Telles for the left-back role in Ten Hag’s side.
