PSG reject Ronaldo after being ‘offered’ chance to sign unsettled Man Utd star

Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly turned down the chance to sign Cristiano Ronaldo after being ‘offered’ the Manchester United forward.

Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has touted the 37-year-old’s services to several sides this summer with Ronaldo said to be keen to leave the club in order to compete for major trophies and in the Champions League next season.

Among the clubs Mendes is understood to have approached is PSG, having held talks with the Parisian’s sporting director, Luis Campos, and club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

However, ESPN are reporting that PSG have rejected the chance to sign Ronaldo, given the direction the club have decided to move in under new manager Christophe Galtier and the potential costs to the wage bill.

Bayern Munich also turned down the chance to sign Ronaldo, while Thomas Tuchel also decided against pursuing a move despite Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly holding initial talks with Mendes.

United have continued to insist that Ronaldo is not for sale, with Erik ten Hag having said that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner remains a part of his plans moving forward.

Ronaldo is yet to return to the club for pre-season due to “family reasons”, an explanation that the Red Devils have accepted.

A Ronaldo-less United began their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia with a 4-0 win over Liverpool in Bangkok on Tuesday.
