Pep Guardiola has rubbished reports that Manchester City could sign Neymar, but hasn’t ruled out further signings this summer.
Reports from France this week claimed PSG had offered Neymar to the Premier League champions, while a proposed swap deal involving Bernardo Silva heading to Paris had also reportedly been rejected.
Le Parisien are reporting that PSG are open to Neymar’s exit should a suitable offer arrive, but Guardiola – despite calling the Brazilian ‘an incredible player’ – has dismissed the suggestion that City could be the forward’s destination.
“I’m sorry for Le Parisien but it’s not true,” he told the media ahead of Man City’s pre-season friendly against Club America.
“Their information is not right, Neymar is an incredible player and the information I have he’s an incredibly nice guy. But it’s not right. Every summer Manchester City are going to buy 150 players.”
City have had a busy summer of incomings and outgoings, with a number of notable names having departed the Premier League champions.
Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus have signed for Chelsea and Arsenal respectively, while Oleksandr Zinchenko is closing in on a move to join Jesus in north London.
Guardiola hailed the contribution of the trio at City and wished them luck for the future, before suggesting further signings could be made before the closure of the transfer window.
“Zinchenko, like Gabriel and Raheem, the impact of these three players has been massive, incredible people and exceptional players, they move on. Chelsea and Arsenal are incredible clubs, I’m happy for the success they’ll have there.
