‘Positive dialogue’ as West Ham submit Scamacca bid

West Ham have reportedly lodged an opening bid for Sassuolo striker, Gianluca Scamacca.

The Hammers are known to be interested in strengthening their forward line this summer having over-relied on Michail Antonio for the last few seasons.

The club are believed to be one of the leading contenders in the race to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea this summer, though according to Sky Sports, the club have now tabled a bid to sign Scamacca too.

They say that the bid is worth ‘more than €40 million’ (£34m), though the Serie A side ‘have set a valuation of €50m (£42.6m).

The report says that there continues to be ‘positive’ talks between the two sides, while the club continue to talk to Chelsea over Broja too.

Scamacca – who has been likened to Zlatan Ibrahimovich – netted 16 times for Sassuolo in Serie A last term, with the striker seemingly able to score a whole range of goals.

So far, West Ham have completed the signings of Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, and Nayef Aguerd, though missed out on the signing of Jesse Lingard after he opted for a move to newly promoted Nottingham Forest.
