Man Utd move for Antony ‘completely off the agenda’

Manchester United’s move for Antony has been described as ‘completely off the agenda’ – unless Ajax lower their valuation of the winger.

Erik ten Hag had been interested in securing a deal to bring Antony to the Premier League from his former side, but Ajax’s high valuation of the 22-year-old has prevented the Red Devils from making an offer.

The Brazil international has impressed since joining Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020 and scored 12 goals in all competitions, providing a further 10 assists, as Ten Hag’s side were crowned Eredivisie champions last season.

Sky Sports are reporting that United will not pursue a move for Antony at his current price-tag however, with a move described as ‘completely off the agenda’ at present.

The situation could reportedly change however, should Antony submit a transfer request or Ajax lower their demands for a player who is contracted until 2025.

Antony made his debut for Brazil in October and has since scored twice in nine caps at international level, where he will be hoping to cement a regular role ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

United are considering alternative targets in attacking areas and have been credited with an interest in signing Red Bull Salzburg’s Benjamin Sesko and Stuttgart forward Sasa Kalajdzic.
