Mikel Arteta says Arsenal are ‘ready to go to a different level’ this season as the Gunners prepare to begin their Premier League campaign at Crystal Palace.
Arsenal open their league season with a short trip across the capital to face Palace on Friday evening, with Arteta’s side confident of building on an encouraging campaign in 2021/22.
After consecutive eighth-placed finishes in the previous two campaigns, Arsenal narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season.
The north Londoners have since strengthened their squad with the notable arrivals of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira, and Arteta is confident that his team can continue to improve and move in a positive direction.
“We are ready to go to a different level, and I am convinced of that,” he told his pre-match press conference. “What the other teams are doing is obvious; others had already a much stronger squad than we had, and they still recruited four or five, or some of them seven players.
“This is not going to get any easier, so we can just focus on what we are trying to do, what we can do, because we cannot do everything at the same time. We are confident that we’re going to be able to do it.”
