Thomas Tuchel has remained coy on speculation linking Chelsea with a move to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Chelsea have been credited with an interest in signing Aubameyang, who is understood to be free to leave Barcelona this summer with the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha having increased competition for places at the Camp Nou.
The former Arsenal captain signed for the Catalans on a free transfer in January and scored 13 goals in 23 appearances during his first six months in Spain.
Tuchel worked with Aubameyang during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund, with the Gabon international having scored 79 goals across his two seasons under the German’s management.
Chelsea are short of options at centre-forward at present, with Timo Werner linked with an exit and Romelu Lukaku having rejoined Inter Milan on loan for the season.
However, speaking ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League opener at Everton, Tuchel was reluctant to comment on potential transfer targets.
“I would be interested in the 79 goals!” Tuchel joked at his pre-match press conference when asked about a potential deal for Aubameyang.
“We won’t comment further. There are lots of names out there. We won’t get involved.”
