Thomas Tuchel is ‘putting pressure’ on Chelsea’s owners to secure the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Tuchel wants to sign Aubameyang as he looks to bring in a centre-forward before the transfer deadline, having worked with the 33-year-old during his time in charge at Borussia Dortmund.
Aubameyang has been linked with an exit from Barcelona following the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, with the Spanish side needing to reduce their wage bill in order to register new signings.
The Gabon international signed for Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal in January and impressed across his first six months with the club. He scored 13 goals in 23 appearances across all competitions and Tuchel is keen on a reunion at Stamford Bridge.
Aubameyang scored 79 goals in just two seasons under Tuchel’s management at Dortmund and Sport are reporting that the German is putting pressure on Chelsea owner Todd Boehly to secure a deal.
Chelsea have just Armando Broja as a recognised centre-forward option at present, having allowed both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner to leave the club this summer.
