Tuchel rubbishes talk of Aubameyang being disruptive and reveals he’s ‘very close’ to former Arsenal striker

Thomas Tuchel has rubbished talk that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a disruptive influence, amid speculation linking Chelsea with a move for the forward.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Aubameyang from Barcelona, with the 33-year-old facing increased competition for a place following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski at the Camp Nou.

Tuchel worked with Aubameyang during his time in charge of Borussia Dortmund and insists he retains a close relationship with the Gabon international.

“I enjoyed a lot working with him,” Tuchel told his pre-match press conference ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Spurs this weekend.

“It was a pleasure. Some players stay your players because you were very close and Auba is one of those.”

Aubameyang signed for Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal in January and scored 13 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions for the Spanish side last season.

The forward was allowed to leave north London after being stripped of the club captaincy, following a number of alleged disciplinary breaches.

Tuchel was asked on Aubameyang’s behaviour at Arsenal, but insists he had no problems with the forward during their time together in Germany.

“I experienced none of this but I will also not comment on what happened at Arsenal out of respect.”
