Barcelona are considering moves to sign Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as the club look to continue their summer spending spree with the addition of a right-back.
The Catalans want to bring in a right-back amid doubts surrounding Sergino Dest’s future and have placed Wan-Bissaka and Dalot on their shortlist of potential arrivals.
Barcelona had wanted to sign Cesar Azpilicueta from Chelsea but have now turned to alternatives after the Spaniard signed a new deal in west London, as the club look to finalise their squad for the campaign.
Gerard Romero, as per SPORT, is reporting that Manchester United duo Wan-Bissaka and Dalot are on the club’s five-player shortlist for the right-back position, alongside Borussia Dortmund’s Thomas Meunier, Villarreal’s Juan Foyth and Bayer Leverkusen defender Jeremie Frimpong.
Wan-Bissaka has been linked with an exit after falling out of favour at Old Trafford, with the 24-year-old having failed to develop as hoped since a £50m move from Crystal Palace in 2019.
Palace have been credited with an interest in bringing the defender back to the club this summer. The Eagles’ former academy graduate as been an unused substitute across United’s opening two league fixtures of the season and does not appear to feature in Erik ten Hag’s plans.
Dalot has started both of the Red Devils’ Premier League fixtures, though doubts remain over his long-term future at the club. United have been linked with using the 23-year-old as a makeweight in an exchange deal to sign Dest from Barcelona, with Ten Hag having worked with the latter at Ajax.
Dest made 35 appearances for Ajax during a breakthrough campaign in 2019/20, before joining Barcelona in a €21m deal.
