Willian training with Fulham ahead of Premier League return

Willian is training with Fulham ahead of a potential return to the Premier League.

The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger is a free agent after leaving Corinthians this summer, with the Brazilian’s contract terminated following an unhappy return to South America.

Fulham have offered a base for Willian to maintain his fitness as Marco Silva runs the rule over the 34-year-old, who made 259 appearances during his previous spell in English football.

The Cottagers are short of options in wide areas following injuries to Harry Wilson and Manor Solomon, though the Evening Standard are reporting that Fulham have yet to offer a contract to the free agent.

Fulham are currently considering a number of forward options as Silva looks to improve his squad, including a potential loan deal for Roma’s Justin Kluivert. Discussions are also being held regarding Bordeaux’s Ui-jo Hwang, Bayern Munich’s Joshua Zirkzee and Brighton’s Neal Maupay.

Willian could prove a short-term solution as the club look to add depth to their options and the winger has outlined his intention to return to Europe. He also revealed last week that he had suffered death threats from the club’s supporters as he struggled for form and fitness at Corinthians.
