Chelsea are set for ‘key talks’ with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang today ahead of the forward’s potential return to the Premier League.
Chelsea want to sign Aubameyang and have made an approach for the Barcelona star, whose status as a regular is under threat following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski at the Camp Nou.
The Spanish side would consider his exit should a suitable offer arrive and the Express are reporting that Chelsea will hold talks with the Gabon international on Thursday in a bid to agree a deal.
Aubameyang signed for Barcelona on a free transfer from Arsenal in February and scored 13 goals in 23 appearances across the second half of the season. His track record in the Premier League – having scored 92 goals in three-and-a-half seasons at Arsenal – has made him a transfer target for English clubs.
Thomas Tuchel worked alongside Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund, where the forward scored 79 goals across just two seasons under Tuchel’s management. The German discussed Aubameyang last week and spoke of his his ‘close bond’ with the forward.
Manchester United have also expressed an interest in the 33-year-old, who is valued at around £25m in Catalonia, but his preference is understood to be a move to Chelsea.
