Lampard talks up Anthony Gordon’s ‘value’ to Everton amid Chelsea interest

Frank Lampard has talked up the ‘value’ of Anthony Gordon to Everton amid interest from Chelsea.

The West London side have seen a bid in the region of £40 million rejected by the Merseyside club as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the September 1st deadline.

However, speaking ahead of Everton’s home game against Nottingham Forest this weekend, Frank Lampard has talked up the players’ importance to his side.

“He’s an Everton player, isn’t he? I don’t want to talk about hypothetical questions. He’s an Everton player,” he said at his pre-match press conference.

“Firstly, he’s got a huge value to the team at Everton. We saw that in his progress last season when I got here and felt that on the pitch.

“He’s a massive player in the squad and a hugely valuable asset for the club, one that we’ve developed ourselves and he’s come through so there’s a link to the fans and the club.

“He’s in the squad for tomorrow and any chats I have with him will remain private.

“As any player should do, he has to get on with his game, his own form, train well, play well. It’s as simple as that.

“That’s the story with Anthony Gordon.”
