Trapp reveals he snubbed interest from Manchester United

Kevin Trapp has revealed he turned down interest from Manchester United to remain at Eintracht Frankfurt.

United were linked with a move for Trapp as the club look to bring in a new goalkeeper before the transfer window’s closure, with Erik ten Hag keen to provide competition and cover for David de Gea.

Trapp emerged as a potential target for the Red Devils, with the 32-year-old an experienced option who impressed as Frankfurt won the Europa League last season.

However, the six-cap Germany international has confirmed he turned down an approach from Old Trafford in order to remain with the Bundesliga side.

“There was a lot of talk in the past days about an interest from Manchester United,” Trapp said in a statement released via Eintracht Frankfurt’s social media.

“It is true that there is a written offer. Manchester United is a global club and I hope everyone can understand that I am considering and thinking about an offer like this.

“Yesterday, however, I informed those responsible at both clubs that I had decided on Eintracht. I experienced unforgettable things here with Frankfurt and we made history together. The start of the season was bumpy, but I have absolute trust in us.”

United are understood to have turned their attention to Martin Dubravka and have opened talks with Newcastle over a deal for the goalkeeper.
