Guardiola emphatically shuts down Bernardo Silva exit talk

Pep Guardiola has shut down speculation that Bernardo Silva could leave Manchester City this month.

Silva has been linked with an exit and has expressed his desire for a new challenge, with the midfielder also keen on a move closer to his family ties in Portugal.

Barcelona have been credited with an interest in the 28-year-old and Guardiola admitted that Silva would be open to a move to the Spanish side earlier this week, while Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly made an approach which has been turned down.

PSG are reported to have seen a £59m offer rejected for the Portugal international, who Guardiola insists will be remaining at the Premier League champions this season.

“He will stay here,” Guardiola said at his pre-match press conference ahead of City’s fixture with Crystal Palace this weekend.

“Absolutely. We don’t have any phone call from any club regarding Bernardo Silva, so he is staying.”

Silva made 50 appearances in all competitions for City last season, in which he scored 13 goals and laid on a further seven assists.
