Memphis Depay ‘willing to listen to offers’ but Barca stay ‘most likely’ ahead of deadline day

Memphis Depay is ‘willing to listen to offers’ before the transfer deadline but is ‘most likely’ to remain at Barcelona.

Depay has been linked with an exit following the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha at Barcelona this summer, with competition for places fierce among Xavi’s front three.

Juventus had made an approach to sign the Netherlands international earlier in the window, but instead turned their attention to the loan signing of Arkadiusz Milik from Marseille. Depay is willing to listen to offers from rival clubs, but will only leave Barcelona should another leading club make an approach.

Sport are reporting that remaining with Barcelona is the most likely outcome as the deadline approaches, unless rumoured interest from Chelsea or Manchester United becomes concrete in the window’s final stages.

Chelsea are known to be in the market for a forward following the exits of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Manchester United is still uncertain.

Depay – who has a year remaining on his contract at the Camp Nou – is relaxed about his situation with his status as the Netherlands’ first-choice centre-forward not under threat ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.

Xavi will also consider the 28-year-old among his plans should he remain, with the expected exits of Martin Braithwaite and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang set to reduce the bloated numbers in forward areas.
