Antonio Conte has explained why he doesn’t consider Tottenham ‘title challengers’ despite an unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
Spurs are third in the Premier League at present, having taken 11 points from their opening five fixtures of the campaign.
The north Londoners enjoyed an active summer in the transfer market with seven new additions, but Conte admits it is too soon to call his team title challengers.
The Italian insists Spurs are a team in transition and believes it will take time before the club can compete with the Premier League’s best sides. He admits it could take ‘at least three transfer windows’ before Spurs are in a position to challenge.
“You have to understand in this transfer window, the club did what they could,” Conte told his pre-match press conference ahead of the club’s clash with Fulham this weekend.
“I think we did good things, but I have to be honest, the other squads in the top teams have too much distance.
“We have just started the process to improve; we did it this summer and in January. But to be a title contender, you need at least three transfer windows.”
