The majority of the Manchester United squad want Cristiano Ronaldo to leave following the forward’s controversial interview with Piers Morgan.
Ronaldo has dominated the headlines since his interview comments emerged earlier this week, in which the 37-year-old said he has been betrayed by senior figures at United and has no respect for manager Erik ten Hag.
Ronaldo also criticised the club’s decline since the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and several former teammates including Wayne Rooney and Gary Neville, in an interview which looks set to end his second spell at Old Trafford.
The Manchester Evening News are reporting that the majority of Ronaldo’s teammates believe he should never play for the Red Devils again, as the club consider terminating his contract.
Ronaldo missed last weekend’s win at Fulham due to an alleged illness, before the squad learned of his comments on the flight back to Manchester from London.
There is understood to be large numbers of the squad who feel it would be beneficial for all parties if Ronaldo were to move on.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner agitated for an exit during the summer and will again pursue a departure ahead of the January transfer window. Sporting Lisbon and MLS side Inter Miami have been linked.
