Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka have lauded Jude Bellingham following the teenager’s stand-out performance in England’s 3-0 win over Senegal.
Bellingham produced a man-of-the-match performance as England eased in the quarter-finals, with the midfielder setting up the opening goal for Jordan Henderson and having a key role in the Three Lions’ second after combining with Foden and Harry Kane.
It was the latest impressive performance from Bellingham, who has underlined his status as one of world football’s most exciting young talents in Qatar.
Despite him saying he doesn’t want to ‘big him up too much’, Foden found it hard to hold back his praise for the 19-year-old and said that Bellingham has all the attributes to become ‘the best midfielder in the world’.
“I don’t want to big him up too much because he’s still young, but he’s one of the most gifted players I’ve ever seen,” he told ITV. “I don’t see a weakness in his game.
“I think he has everything and I’m sure he’s going to be the best midfielder in the world for sure.”
Saka – who scored England’s third goal against Senegal – also lauded Bellingham, insisting that the teenager is already a player who can impact the biggest games.
“I always said he’s the future, but he’s the present as well,” Saka said
“He was unbelievable tonight and he was everywhere on the pitch, and he was everywhere in the previous three games. I hope he can just keep it up.”
