Jordan Pickford’s Everton future is said to be in ‘doubt’ with the goalkeeper still yet to commit his future to the club.
The 28-year-old has just 18 months remaining on his current deal, and according to the Times, there has been ‘little meaningful progress’ in talks despite ‘indications’ at the end of last season that he would be handed a new deal
The Toffees now face the further problem of convincing him to commit to the club given their current struggles in the league, their defeat to Wolves leaving them just two points off the bottom of the table and facing a second successive relegation scrap.
The report says that Pickford does not have a relegation clause in his current contract, and say that the ‘inclusion of one in any proposed deal would further complicate matters and do little to speed up the process’.
Pickford is currently England’s undisputed number one, and his contract status will likely attract some of the biggest clubs in the division.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with Pickford in recent months, as they consider their goalkeeping options ahead of next season.
