West Ham are said interested in a deal to sign Harry Maguire on loan from Manchester United this month.
Maguire has started just four league games this season after falling out of favour under new manager Erik ten Hag, who has even preferred left-back Luke Shaw in an unfamiliar centre-back role in recent fixtures rather than the club captain.
The 29-year-old featured prominently for England at the World Cup in Qatar, but faces an uncertain future at club level and West Ham are keen to provide Maguire with regular first-team football.
Maguire signed for the Red Devils in an £80m deal from Leicester in 2019 and remains the most expensive defender in history. He has made 159 appearances for the club, but has struggled for form and favour across the past two seasons.
According to the Mirror, the Hammers are considering replacements for Craig Dawson with Wolves interested in a deal for the defender.
Wolves first made an approach for Dawson last summer and the 32-year-old is keen on a return to the Midlands in order to be closer to his family in northern England, having previously spent nine years at West Brom.
Maguire would represent an experienced replacement for West Ham, who are in search of reinforcements with the club mired in the Premier League’s relegation places.
David Moyes is also understood to be keen on signing a centre-forward and the Hammers have been linked with Lorient’s Terem Moffi.
