Everton have submitted a bid worth up to £45m for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.
Everton have announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as the club’s new manager and have wasted no time in making a move in the transfer market, submitting a proposal to sign Gallagher from Chelsea.
The 22-year-old has started just nine league games for Chelsea this season, who are considering Everton’s proposal ahead of Tuesday’s transfer deadline. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the offer is worth an initial £40m with a further £5m in add-ons.
Funds have been made available to Dyche at Everton following the sale of Anthony Gordon to Newcastle. The winger completed his move to St James’ Park on Sunday in a deal worth £45m.
Gallagher shone during a loan spell at Crystal Palace last season and was named as the Eagles’ Player of the Season after scoring eight league goals. Palace remain interested in re-signing the midfielder, who has struggled to make an impact since returning to Chelsea this season.
Nottingham Forest and Southampton are also said to have made enquiries into the England international’s availability, while Newcastle are understood to have expressed interest in a loan deal. However, Chelsea are likely to be reluctant to strengthen a direct rival for Champions League football.
