Erik ten Hag says Marcel Sabitzer is ‘ready to play’ following his deadline day switch to Manchester United.
United signed Sabitzer on a loan deal from Bayern Munich on deadline day as the club looked to add to their midfield following Christian Eriksen’s injury.
Eriksen has been ruled out for three months with an ankle injury and Ten Hag has insisted that the new arrival is ready to make an immediate impact.
Sabitzer has struggled for regular minutes at Bayern, having shone at RB Leipzig before his move to the Bundesliga champions in 2021. Despite his lack of minutes this season, Ten Hag is confident the midfielder is ‘ready to play’ ahead of this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.
“[He looks] Very good,” Ten Hag said at his pre-match press conference on Sabitzer.
“Of course, he did only one session but you can see he’s a very fit player and I didn’t have different expectations coming from Bayern Munich, German, their fitness is always good. I think he is ready to play.”
Ten Hag refused to confirm whether the Austria international would start against Palace, but suggested that the 28-year-old is well prepared ahead of his potential debut.
“I think he’s a really smart player and I think we gave him some guidance but he knows what to do, he knows the job.”
