Tottenham are considering a move to sign Ben Foster as the club look for emergency goalkeeper cover for the injured Hugo Lloris.
Lloris has been ruled out for up to eight weeks after sustaining knee ligament damage during the club’s 1-0 win over Manchester City on Sunday.
The absence of the Spurs captain leaves Antonio Conte short of depth ahead of a crucial run of games and the north Londoners are considering seeking emergency cover.
According to the Mirror, Spurs could launch a move to bring Ben Foster out of retirement. The 39-year-old called time on his career after leaving Watford last summer with the former England international having since moved successfully into the media.
Newcastle offered the goalkeeper a one-year deal to extend his career last summer, but Foster turned down the move to St James’ Park for family reasons.
Spurs would require special dispensation from the Premier League to add Foster to their squad, should the veteran agree to a deal. Fraser Forster will start in goal against Leicester in the Premier League this weekend, but neither of the club’s back-up options, Brandon Austin and Alfie Whiteman, have made a first-team appearance for the club.
Spurs take on AC Milan in the Champions League’s last 16 next week, before crucial Premier League fixtures with West Ham and Chelsea.
