Raya ‘really happy’ at Brentford despite Spurs, Chelsea and Man Utd links

David Raya insists he is ‘really happy’ at Brentford despite transfer interest from a number of Premier League clubs.

Raya has attracted attention from a host of Premier League rivals with Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United all linked with a move for the Spain international.

The 27-year-old has shone since Brentford’s promotion and the Bees have continued to go from strength to strength under Thomas Frank.

Raya – who will have 12 months remaining on his contract this summer – has rejected two contract offers to extend his deal in west London, but insists he remains happy at Brentford and says his immediate focus is on the club’s push for Europe.

“I don’t think it’s the right time to sign a contract at the moment,” Raya said, as per the BBC.

“I’m really, really happy and right now I’m just thinking about doing the best for the team and trying to push for Europe.”

Raya opened up on his contract talks with Brentford and says discussing a new deal is ‘secondary’ in his priorities as he concentrates on performing for the club.

“I was offered a new contract last year and one in January but we didn’t reach an agreement,” he said.

“For now a new contract is secondary, the most important thing is the team and the games. We’ll see where we are in May.

“You never know what’s around the corner. There’s nothing I can say about what’s going to happen in the summer. I don’t even know what’s going to happen on Saturday.”

Raya reiterated his happiness at Brentford and called the club ‘home’, admitting he is enjoying one of the best periods of his career with the Bees.

“It’s always going to be home – no matter what. I’m in one of the happiest times of my career.”
