Chelsea and Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign Independiente del Valle teenager Kendry Paez.
Paez is attracting interest from a wealth of clubs across Europe following his performances for Independiente del Valle’s youth sides and Ecuador at u17 level, for who he has scored two goals in four appearances.
His performances have seen the 15-year-old promoted to the senior side at the Ecuadorian outfit, ahead of the club’s 2023 pre-season campaign.
Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Chelsea are tracking the teenager’s progress, but have now been joined by Manchester United and Bayer Leverkusen. Paez would not be eligible to move to England until his 18th birthday, but the Premier League duo are looking to reach an early agreement for the highly-rated midfielder.
Paez is the latest Ecuadorian to capture the attention of leading European clubs, with Moises Caicedo (Brighton) and Piero Hincapié (Bayer Leverkusen) among those to have emerged as part of an exciting generation.
Hincapié also represented Independiente del Valle before his move to Germany and Leverkusen are keen to return to the South American side and beat rival interest to Paez’s signature.
