Premier League target Marcus Thuram to leave Monchengladbach on a free

Marcus Thuram is set to leave Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer in the summer.

The France international is out of contract in the summer, and despite their best efforts, the Bundesliga club have so far failed to tie him down to new terms.

The 25-year-old was linked with a cut-price move away from Borussia-Park in January, the club’s last opportunity to recoup a fee for a player who has netted 42 goals in 124 outings for them.

However, with a number of Premier League clubs linked, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has said that Thuram will likely join a ‘bigger club’ in the summer.

“We’ve decided to allow Thuram to leave,” he told Sport1. “The fact he will leave on a free is not a positive situation. I can’t sugarcoat it.

“We have to accept that there are bigger clubs he might move to.”

Thuram – who is the son of French legend Lilian Thuram – was part of the France side that reached the World Cup final.
