Legendary Manchester United manager thinks Marcus Rashford isn’t a ‘striker’ and thinks the club needs another goalscorer.
Rashford is enjoying his greatest-ever goalscoring campaign, and netted his 25th of the season in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final victory over Newcastle.
The forward is comfortably Manchester United‘s top goalscorer this season, with Bruno Fernandes’ seven goals in all competitions the closest contender in the scoring charts.
United have, however, spread the goals throughout the side with seven players having scored at least five in all competitions, and speaking after the Red Devils win, former boss Sir Alex Ferguson thinks his former side still need another regular goalscorer, with the 81-year-old of the opinion that Rashford is better off the left.
“I don’t think he is a striker,” he told Sky Sports. “He operates from the left-hand side and is fantastic.
“His finishing is always good, he always keeps his shots down which is really important for a striker. He’s in a great vein of form.
“Unfortunately for us, he is the main source of goals. We could do with an extra one.”
