Bernardo Silva still ‘wants to leave’ Man City as Barcelona maintain interest

Bernardo Silva reportedly still ‘wants to leave’ Manchester City as Barcelona continue to be interested in the playmaker.

Silva has developed into one of the most aesthetically pleasing players in the Premier League since his move from Monaco in 2017, the Portuguese showcasing plenty of grit, determination and energy, alongside a wonderful balance, technique and quality in the Man City midfield.

Pep Guardiola revealed back in 2021 that Bernardo was one of a number of players who wanted to leave Manchester City following a relative lack of minutes, though having failed to get a move, he has continued to deliver for the Champions.

Barcelona have regularly been linked with an interest in the 28-year-old, and according to Sport, the signing of Silva is ‘the great summer dream’ at the Camp Nou.

The article says that Barcelona’s recent defeats to Manchester United and Almeria highlight the club’s need to strengthen their squad in the summer with quality experienced players.

They say that there are a number of names that fit the bill, but the signing of Bernardo has the most ‘consensus’, with the belief that he would fit nicely into the Barcelona style of play.

The report goes on to say that Silva is still keen to leave the Etihad and ‘would love to play’ for the Blaugrana.

Silva is, however, under contract until 2025, and a move will likely not come cheap. Barcelona have encountered a number of well-documented financial issues over the years, with the report suggesting that a move for Silva could potentially blow their entire summer budget.
