Jurgen Klopp has said that it is a ‘super important week’ for Liverpool’s season ahead of two vital Premier League games.
Liverpool host Wolves on Wednesday night before Manchester United arrive on Merseyside on Sunday as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to get back into contention for the top four.
The Reds are currently nine points off the Champions League places, though the Wolves clash is the first of two games in hand on fourth-placed Spurs, and speaking ahead of the latest meeting with Wolves – the fourth of the season – Klopp admitted his side ‘need results’ and ‘good performances’ in the coming games.
“It’s a super-important week, you do not have to big it up, we cannot ignore it and why would I?” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“We have two home games and I would love to give the season a little push in this week because we need results, and also good performances.
“We have to give it a proper, proper go against a team [Wolves] I think we have played more than any other team this season.
“We have to make sure we are ready and I know Anfield will be and we have to do our part.”

In the 2020/21 season, Liverpool were in a similar position to what they are now, sitting eighth in the table after 28 games, before winning eight and drawing two of their last 10 to finish third.
Jurgen Klopp admits that the memory of that season ‘helps’ his players in reminding them that they can put a winning streak together, but insisted that they should not rely on history repeating itself.
“It helps because it was us so you don’t have to tell them [the players] a story of another club but we have a lot of stories to tell of what went really well in the last few years, of long winning streaks.
“History is not allowed to hinder you but also you cannot rely on what you have done before. We have to be ready to go and do it because every game is different.
“You have an opponent who wants the points as well and we have to go against that and we have to create, we have to attack, we have to defend, we have to protect and I know the boys can do that.
“We have to enjoy what we are doing and I really think we are ready – if there is a club that can do it I really think it is us. I really think that because all of the things we have achieved in these last years we achieved together. Nothing would have happened without the team or without the crowd.”
