Joao Felix admits he’s loving life at Chelsea

Joao Felix has opened up on why he is loving his time at Chelsea, and suggested he would be keen to stay beyond the end of the season.

The Portugal international is on loan at Stamford Bridge until the end of the season after falling out of favour under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Felix has put in some impressive performances for Chelsea, although has only found the back of the net once in his six appearances to date.

Before making the move the Premier League, Los Rojiblancos opted to take up the option to extend his deal by a further year, keeping him under contract in Madrid until 2027.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund, the 23-year-old was asked about his future.

“I think the future, no one knows. Now I am just focused on tomorrow’s game. After that, we don’t know what will happen,” he told the media.

“The club is so big is amazing, everyone behind the club is so good so I am happy to be here.

“I think I needed it (the loan). When I left Atletico, I thought it was good for me and for them. So I think it was the perfect deal to try something different. I always tried to do my best and sometimes it didn’t work. So I had to change to see if things go different. I think this loan is important for me and I am very happy to play here.”

Felix opened up on the differences between English and Spanish football, admitting he is loving the freedom he is getting to express himself on the pitch.

“It’s a different kind of football, the league is different,” he said. “The way the teams play in La Liga or Premier League is totally different.

“Chelsea is a team that likes to attack, have the ball, dominate the game. So that is the game I like to play. I feel very free to play here and as I like. I love it.”
