Manchester United are ready to rival Europe’s top clubs in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham this summer.
Bellingham is set to be subject of interest from the continent’s wealthiest sides with Liverpool, Manchester City and Real Madrid the frontrunners in the race to sign the England international.
Borussia Dortmund are understood to have placed a minimum valuation of €125m (£110m) on Bellingham, ahead of an expected bidding war from interested sides.
The Telegraph are reporting that Manchester United are now prepared to join the chase and have registered a ‘genuine interest’ in the teenager.
Erik ten Hag’s side are on course for Champions League qualification and have emerged as an attractive destination following a strong first season under the Dutch manager. United won silverware under Ten Hag with League Cup success last month and remain in pursuit of the Europa League and FA Cup.
United made an attempt to sign Bellingham from Birmingham City in 2020, before his move to the Bundesliga. He has since made 123 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions and established himself as one of European football’s most exciting prospects. He has also won 22 senior caps for England and impressed during the Three Lions’ World Cup campaign in Qatar last winter.
Liverpool have been viewed as the favourites to sign Bellingham, but the Reds face a fight to secure Champions League qualification this season and an absence from Europe’s elite could damage hopes of landing the midfielder.
