Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Mason Mount from Chelsea with Thomas Tuchel keen on a reunion with the midfielder.
Mount will enter the final 12 months of his contract at Chelsea this summer and talks over an extension have stalled, with the England international said to have felt undervalued during negotiations over a new deal.
Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City are all understood to be monitoring Mount’s situation, while the Times are reporting that Bayern Munich are considering a summer approach. Former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel is interested in bringing the midfielder to the Bundesliga following his appointment at the German champions last week.
Mount was a key figure during Tuchel’s reign at Chelsea and has been named as the club’s Player of the Season in each of the last two campaigns.
However, it is understood the chances of Mount leaving Chelsea have ‘grown’ after a failure to find a breakthrough in contract talks and the west Londoners are expected to demand around £50m from interested clubs.
Chelsea require substantial sales this summer in order to meet the Premier League’s financial rules, having posted combined losses of £274.4m over the last two seasons. The Blues have also spent more than £500m on new additions since last summer and several stars could leave as the club reduce Graham Potter’s bloated squad.
Mount’s departure could raise significant funds for Chelsea, while Conor Gallagher, Christian Pulisic, Romelu Lukaku, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Hakim Ziyech and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have also been linked with exits.
