Jurgen Klopp has called for a reaction from Liverpool as the club take on Arsenal in the Premier League this weekend.
Liverpool are without a win in three league fixtures and face a tough challenge as the Premier League leaders visit Anfield on Sunday.
Klopp’s side are eighth in the Premier League table after a goalless draw with Chelsea in midweek, 10 points adrift of the top four in the race to secure Champions League qualification.
“Our main problem at Chelsea was we had the ball and gave it away. That is not how it should be. I liked the desire and the passion,” Klopp said at his pre-match press conference.
“We have another chance. We will give it a proper try and we will need Anfield. Let’s go for it.
“I don’t know exactly what you can say about us at the moment, so that shows the situation. It’s still Anfield, we’re at home and we still have to show a reaction and an improvement.”
Klopp was full of praise for this weekend’s opponents, who boast an eight-point advantage at the top of the division and are chasing a first league title since 2003/04.
Arsenal will be targeting an eighth consecutive Premier League win this weekend and Klopp admits the Gunners are a ‘different team’ to the one faced in recent seasons.
“They are a different team. Mikel has been building for a few years now and the outcome is pretty impressive. Really good football, top players and good match plans.
“It’s a mix of really good football and extreme emotions. It is a good way to play. I know people ask for time for managers but I really think Mikel deserved each minute he got there when things weren’t going well.
“The team is very well set up, good transfers on top of that but a really stable team. That’s what they’re using now.”
