Erik ten Hag has demanded that Manchester United bring a winning mentality to the Premier League run-in.
Manchester United are fourth in the Premier League table and moved back into the Champions League places after a 1-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday night. The result ended a run of three games without a win and leaves the Red Devils in a strong position to secure a top four finish.
Ten Hag’s side take on Everton this weekend, who arrive at Old Trafford in need of points as the Toffees battle against relegation.
Ten Hag has warned that his side can not afford to drop their standards across the run-in, in a fiercely competitive race to secure Champions League football. The Dutchman discussed his demands for consistent performances as he looks to reemphasise a winning culture at the club.
“You have to do it every game,” Ten Hag told his pre-match press conference.
”That has to be the standard, you have to do it and that’s the responsibility you have to deliver when playing for Manchester United. You have to be accountable.
“It’s about demands. We have to make standards. It’s about culture, you have to do it always. For a player who is at the top, competing for trophies, you have to do it always and be consistent.
“It’s our job to bring that mentality.”
