Ramsdale reflects on ‘a very good point’ for Arsenal at Liverpool

Aaron Ramsdale believes Arsenal’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool will prove to be ‘a very good point’ after a gripping game at Anfield.

Roberto Firmino scored a late leveller for Liverpool who fought from two goals down to earn a draw, a result which leaves Arsenal’s lead at the top of the Premier League at six points.

Arsenal had raced into a two-goal lead through Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, but Mohamed Salah – who later missed a penalty – brought Liverpool back into the game before half-time. The second period was pulsating end-to-end action, though the Gunners were forced to hold on in the closing stages with Ramsdale required to make vital saves from Salah and Ibrahima Konate.

Despite the club’s seven-game winning run come to an end, Ramsdale believes Arsenal will reflect on the draw as ‘a very good point’ in the coming days.

“Mixed emotions but over the next few days I think it will be a very good point,” the Arsenal goalkeeper told Sky Sports.

“We’ve been under pressure for 35 minutes and get a point away at Anfield. They’re a top side. It might be two points dropped but we could have dropped three.

“There’s no better game to play in than these games. At least my saves have helped us out.

“I thought we were excellent. For 50-60 minutes we were very good but we got unlocked by two goals.

“Now we have to go back in and build again. One point is a lot better than none.

“The manager will say that [to focus on the good aspects]. He’s hugely positive. We’ll digest it in the next few days.”
