Liverpool are plotting a move to sign Joao Palhinha from Fulham, following the midfielder’s impressive debut season in the Premier League.
Liverpool are assessing options ahead of a rebuild in midfield this summer and have placed Palhinha on the club’s shortlist of potential candidates.
The Portugal international signed for Fulham in a £20m deal from Sporting Lisbon last summer and has shone during an impressive campaign in west London, scoring four goals and leading the Premier League for tackles won.
Football Insider are reporting that Liverpool have sent scouts to watch the 27-year-old in action, as the Reds weigh up a summer approach.
Jurgen Klopp wants to bring in multiple midfielders this summer, with mass changes expected in the club’s engine room. Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are set to leave on free transfers when their contracts expire this summer, while James Milner could also depart. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have also struggled for form this season.
Liverpool are understood to have cooled their interest in Jude Bellingham despite long-term interest, due to the expense of the package required to sign the Borussia Dortmund teenager.
Liverpool will instead target several additions in midfield, with Chelsea’s Mason Mount, Wolves’ Matheus Nunes and Brighton’s Moises Caicedo also said to be on the club’s radar.
