Arsenal targets among five names linked with Liverpool as potential Bellingham alternatives

Liverpool are considering Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo among a number of alternatives to Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool are understood to have cooled their interest in signing Bellingham as a result of the financial package required to agree a deal with Dortmund, with the Reds instead set to target multiple additions as Jurgen Klopp plans a rebuild of his midfield.

Sky Sports are reporting that Liverpool could rival Arsenal’s interest in West Ham captain Rice and Brighton midfielder Caicedo. Rice is expected to leave the London Stadium this summer after turning down several offers of a new contract and Arsenal have been linked with the England international.

West Ham manager David Moyes claimed it will take a British record fee to sign Rice earlier this season, but there is an acceptance that the 24-year-old will move on at the end of the campaign.

Arsenal also made an approach for Caicedo during the January transfer window, but saw two offers turned down. The Ecuadorian has shone since breaking into the Brighton team last season and ranks third in the Premier League for tackles won this season.

Liverpool’s five-man shortlist of Bellingham alternatives also reportedly contains Inter Milan’s Nicolo Barella, Wolves’ Matheus Nunes and Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch.

Nunes was linked with Liverpool before his club-record transfer to Wolves last summer, while Gravenberch could be open to a move after struggling for football at Bayern Munich this season. The 20-year-old has featured for just 324 minutes in the Bundesliga since signing from Ajax last summer.
