Peter Schmeichel has criticised Jadon Sancho following the Manchester United’s winger’s ineffective performance against Sevilla.
Sancho struggled to make an impact as the Red Devils were held to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford, a fixture which saw Sevilla come back from two goals down to rescue a result in their Europa League quarter-final.
Sancho has endured a difficult period since signing for United in a £72.9m deal from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and was given extended time away from the squad this season to undergo an individual training regime.
The 23-year-old has scored five goals and laid on two assists in 29 appearances this season, but former United goalkeeper Schmeichel has demanded more from the winger.
“I fail to remember anything he did well and that’s the sad truth,” Schmeichel told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“There is nothing on his shoulders – no-one is expecting miracles. He’s one part of a team that is supposed to be able to attack from either side, to mix it up and offer variety in their play.
“He has a great opportunity at Old Trafford with a manager who believes in him and wants to help him.
“Now he needs to go on the pitch and show that.”
