Erik ten Hag has warned Manchester United that Nottingham Forest will ‘run for their lives’ when the teams meet at the City Ground this weekend.
United travel to face Forest on Sunday as the Red Devils look to continue their push for a top four finish and Champions League qualification. Ten Hag’s team are fourth in the division, three points ahead of Tottenham, ahead of this weekend’s fixture with Forest.
Forest enter the game in poor form and Steve Cooper’s side are without a win in nine games in the Premier League. Their winless run has seen Forest fall into the relegation places, but Ten Hag has warned his team that the struggling side will be up for the fight this weekend.
“We know what we can expect. They are in survival mode,” Ten Hag told his pre-match press conference.
“They will run for their lives so we have to be ready for that game.”
United suffered a double injury blow during the club’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla on Thursday night, as centre-back duo Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane with withdrawn with injury.
Martinez looked in discomfort as he was carried from the field, but Ten Hag is confident his squad has enough defensive depth to cover in the Argentine’s absence.
“We have a lot of decent centre-halves. We have proved in the past and in this season that we have four or five very good centre-halves who can do the job.”
