Christian Eriksen admits it was ‘easy’ to slot back into the Manchester United side during the club’s 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest.
Eriksen made his first appearance for the Red Devils since sustaining an ankle injury in January, with the Denmark midfielder unexpectedly thrust into the starting side after Marcel Sabitzer was injured in the warm-up at the City Ground.
United secured a comfortable win after goals from Antony and Diogo Dalot, with Eriksen an impressive performer alongside Bruno Fernandes in midfield.
The 31-year-old admits he did not have much time to prepare for the game after Sabitzer’s late withdrawal, but said an efficient performance from United made it ‘easy’ on his return.
Asked how much notice he had before the news he was in the team, Eriksen told Sky Sports: “Not a lot, they did some finishing in the end, it’s always the last drill and I got the news then that Marcel [Sabitzer] was injured. I was told to just be ready, I was not sure.
“Mentally I was ready. I’ve been out for a while, I need to do my prep and be ready.
“For me it was easy to slot in because of how we played. There was a lot of space for me in midfield.
“Watching the last few games from the bench we have started games very well. It is a theme that we don’t score another to put the game in our hands but we keep going.
“The team have impressed me, they have kept the intensity and the level.
“If you take into account how we started the season, there is a completely different feeling around the club.
“There are still loads of games but we want to go for everything as much as we can. We want revenge against Sevilla and then after that a semi-final.”
