Napoli striker Osimhen pours cold water on Man Utd transfer speculation

Victor Osimhen has insisted he is ‘already at one of the biggest clubs’ amid reported interest from Manchester United.

Napoli have enjoyed a truly sensational season, currently sitting 14 points clear of Lazio at the top of Serie A with just eight games remaining, while they have also progressed to the last eight of the Champions League.

Under Luciano Spalletti, the Partenopei have put together an exciting team and have played a scintillating brand of attacking football, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia one of the breakout stars in European football, while Victor Osimhen is comfortably Serie A’s leading goalscorer with 21 league strikes.

His form both domestically and in Europe have seen him linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months, with Erik ten Hag having made the signing of a prolific striker his top priority.

Napoli have reportedly set an asking price of well over £100 million for the Nigerian, and while he has recently admitted that it is his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League, he has seemingly downplayed the possibility of leaving Naples this summer as he looks forward to claiming the Scudetto.

“It was tough for me to make my dream come true of becoming a professional football player and now we are about to win [the league] for the first time. I’m at a great club and my career is growing constantly,” Osimhen told TG5, as per the Manchester Evening News.

“I am already at one of the biggest clubs and I could not ask for more. Forza Napoli always! We are close to the objective [Serie A title] and cannot wait to make our dream come true, to make it a reality. The players always believed.

“We always thought we could do something exceptional, even when nobody else believed we could. The affection from the city is extraordinary, I have never received so much love. I can’t wait to celebrate with them at the stadium.”

Manchester United have also been linked with the likes of Harry Kane, Goncalo Ramos and Benjamin Sesko.
