Barcelona have no ‘real interest’ in signing Roberto Firmino despite reports the club had reached an agreement to sign the Liverpool forward.
Firmino will leave Liverpool on a free transfer at the end of the season after eight years at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp having confirmed that the Brazilian will depart in search of a new challenge.
Reports over the weekend had suggested that the 31-year-old had reached an agreement to sign for Barcelona, but Spanish publication Marca have dismissed that a deal has been agreed.
Firmino’s representatives are understood to have touted his services to the Catalans, who are in search of cost-efficient additions due to the current economic issues at the Camp Nou.
However, Marca state that Barcelona have no ‘real interest’ in signing the Liverpool number 9 and are not currently looking to ‘reinforce their centre-forward position’ during the summer transfer window.
Firmino has been linked with several clubs in Spain, Germany and Italy ahead of his Anfield exit. He has scored 11 goals in 16 starts across all competitions this season, but has seen his minutes reduced following the recent arrivals of Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo on Merseyside.
